Reviewer Consultant Applicant Information

 

The steps below outline the application process:
Visit the "Reviewer Opportunities" section on the Web site, read the requirements for the content area(s) for which you are interested in applying.

If you are:

  • New applicants will need to become a member of the email list to begin the process; click on the first link and join the email list in the Apply Online section.
  • Applicants who are already a member of the email list but have not applied or qualified in any content area; click on the second link in the Apply Online section.
  • A current Reviewer Consultant wishing to apply in a new content area(s); click on the third link in the Apply Online section.

Danya will accept and screen applications from all applicants. Qualified applicants will be sent a contract outlining the terms and conditions for consultants to participate on reviews. Review the following terms to ensure that you are willing to meet the requirements for participation on review teams:

  • Consultants authorize Danya to verify all application information, including, references, employment, and education records.
  • Consultants will be independent contractors to Danya and will not be an employee, agent, partner, or representative of Danya.
  • Participation on reviews is based on consultant availability and Danya’s need for the consultant’s specific services. Consultants must complete, and continuously update, a calendar of their availability.
  • The contract does not require or obligate Danya to issue any review assignments to the Consultant.
  • Consultants are free to accept or reject review assignments.
  • Consultants are paid a $325 honorarium for each full day of review services (prorated for partial days).
  • Reviews vary in duration, but are typically 5 ½ days. Consultants arrive usually onsite Sunday afternoon and leave Friday afternoon.
  • Consultants must participate in required trainings and webcasts on consultant roles and responsibilities at their own expense. Sessions are always planned and designed to be conveniently accessed by Consultants and with minimal costs to the Consultant.
  • Consultants are reimbursed for reasonable travel, lodging, meals, and incidental expenses incurred in performing a review assignment, provided all contractual terms and conditions are met.
  • Consultants must file all self-employment and other Federal, State, and local tax returns and pay all applicable self-employment and other taxes.
  • Consultants must provide their own laptop computer, and any other tools and equipment necessary to perform the review as specified by Danya.
  • Consultants must obtain and maintain:
    • a Federal Tax Identification Number
    • all required business permits and licenses
    • any required workers’ compensation insurance, including an owner’s endorsement, professional and general liability insurance, property insurance, and all automobile liability insurance required by the laws of the States where Consultant performs services.
    • Consultant cannot participate in reviews if:
      • they have provided other consulting work or services to the program or have some other contractual relationship with the program without Danya’s prior written consent
      • the review is in a State in which the consultant lives
      • they are employed with a program that the Office of Head Start has determined to be deficient.
      • Consultants must fully disclose any potential conflict of interest when accepting review assignments, as specified by their contract.
